Artist statement
Alice Liu was born and educated in Hong Kong where she worked as a graphic designer, animator, video producer and art management as well. Since 2010, Alice has moved to Europe, firstly Iceland and now is allocating in Bergen, Norway.
Life changes. The concern changes. The art direction changes. Whatever changes, the most important about ART is HONEST; honest to the artist’s own feeling and desire.
Inspired by the nature of north Europe, currently she is working on the project, Possible Nature, which is expressing the relationship between human and nature through the digital drawings and animations. In the project, she is creating an animated reindeer, Moby who will be projected wherever Alice is travelling. Hopefully, it will be a worldwide tour and spreads Moby’s calling from the wild. Besides, Possible Nature is selected into Go Cry on Somebody Else’s Shoulder Festival and will exhibit in Sept 2022.
Making art is “personal” but showing art is “public”. Artwork is an invitation for sharing and communicating with other people. When Alice is working on her work, she is always full of joy. She wants to share a moment of joy to others. For spread out the joy, she is going to teach kids making animations. Let young generations think more about environment as well as release their imaginations.
